Kimberly - after graduating from Queens University of Belfast with a First in pharmacy she has completed time in the Ulster , Dundee and Edinburgh hospitals. She is now part way through a five month tour of the world (North America complete), home at Christmas and then off for a further three months to Africa and Asia in early January 2010 with her boyfriend Ryan.
Caroline – is mid way through her fourth year of medicine at Glasgow University. She is scheduled to return to Tanzania (where she spent her Gap Year) in the summer of 2010 for her medical elective. Last summer she worked in the Belfast Royal Victoria Hospital before spending some time in a missionary hospital in Zambesi for the summer.
Lorraine – has completed her “A” levels with 4 “A”s. She is now studying for a Degree in Radiotherapy at the University of Ulster and starts a placement in Belfast City Hospital Cancer unit in January 2010.
Jackie - After the long transfer out of “Fortfield” I am now working as a substitute teacher about ten days per month. Church work continues to take a lot of work and focus. As you will have seen in our Christmas Cards this year Brian is finally allowing us to tell more of our story about the events of the last three – four years + . So our www.fortfield.com website has been loaded with the information now (released Wednesday 23 December 2009) with his and our story.
Now is an opportune time to thank everyone who has been able to contribute to our support in so many different ways. Whilst I could acknowledge many people in particular I would like to thank the few people who have borne the brunt and time necessary to continue to help Brian in the UK/Canada, the Kennedy family (the purchasers of Fortfield) who genuinely helped in so many simple and practical ways when they learned of the actual situation, our immediate family without whose support none of us could have stayed with the process and finally, of course, our faith that this is part of our journey in this life. Thanks to you all for your support in what has been a challenging time for our family.
Brian – After the trauma of leaving “Fortfield” – but that is behind us now – he is very happy in our Blackwood Cottage. Unfortunately he is working only very occasional consulting days so far and still spending time in the UK and Canada.
